After his science fiction writing mom died, author Peter A. Hirsch heard verses for years like "forty-nine days after running aground" or "a horse drawn carriage on a cobblestone street", "asparagus soup with fruit loops" or "lying on a lawn so green, I fell asleep and had a dream." This continued for many years and he transcribed and expounded upon them until he had composed over one hundred forty five rhyming stories and poems. He added illustrations and photographs to enhance the work and included fifty-five of the best in "Rhymes or Porcupines."
In "Rhymes or Porcupines", a homeowner battles his possessed house and a shipwrecked crew tries desperately to survive. A couple has extreme anxiety at an Italian restaurant. A newlywed contemplates life before his child’s birth. A monkey terrorizes a family member and aliens hide behind a planet in our solar system!
Between spies getting duped in London and zombies on the streets of the big city anything is possible in the world of Peter A. Hirsch.
"Rhymes or Porcupines" is the title of one of the short stories depicting the fantastic sights, sounds and smells of the carnival through the eyes of children.
Hirsch uses his sense of humor, insight, sentimentality and adventurous side, in an easy reading format filled with unusual escapades, silly yarns, gushy verses and soul searching questions entertaining the reader from start to finish.

I just finished reading this ebook of short stories! I thoroughly enjoyed reading them out loud to my wife. We both giggled at some, had to reread others but in the end it was great entertainment and time well spent together. After reading Rhymes Or Porcupines, I had to write a review, because I feel it is important for other people to read & enjoy this fascinating work of art! Not only are the stories intriguing, funny & thought provoking, but they are fun to share with (my) children. The author has touched upon a variety of subject matter pertinent to today with humour, insight and sensitivity. His unique perspective on the world around him provides enjoyment for all ages and I highly recommend this book!
Rhymes or Porcupines is a book that is witty and delightful. It's fun, interesting and would be great reading for all ages. Even the very young would love to have to stories read to them while peaking at the insightful drawings and photos. This book really is cute in the delivery of its poems. The photos and author drawings give life and character to his writings. This is a book that can be picked up anytime by anyone time and time again!
